Mike Reicher began reporting in junior high school, where he rose through the ranks to become the editor of the Seaweed Screamer. Today, he’s a multimedia journalist who edits, writes, shoots photos and produces video.

As the special projects reporter for the Daily Pilot, a Los Angeles Times community newspaper in Orange County, Calif., Mike investigates wayward politicians and uncovers local issues that touch peoples’ lives.

From his hometown paper to the New York Times, Mike has contributed to many outlets and has covered a broad range of issues.  Recently, he edited the business section of a Southern California local news website, covering everything from clean-tech entrepreneurs to farmers.

On the other side of the country, Mike earned his masters degree from the City University of New York Graduate School of Journalism, specializing in interactive media and urban affairs.

During J-School, he interned at The New York Times City Room and helped start The Local, a collaborative journalism site run by the Times and CUNY.

Mike’s work has been published by The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Crain’s New York Business, CITY LIMITS and other regional and local publications.

A Southern California native, he consulted for housing developers in the western U.S. before he turned his freelance journalism business into his career.

Whenever he gets the chance to be on the water or in the mountains, Mike will take it.
